Wireless communication technology application – vehicle-mounted laser weapons

News 2024-12-30

A number of new domestically-produced laser weapons made their debut on stage, showcasing China’s latest achievements in cutting-edge military technology.

Laser weapons are currently a popular new concept weapon, especially high-energy laser weapons that can destroy targets in an instant. With their precision and high efficiency, they are hailed as key equipment on future battlefields and have become a weapon that many military powers or major countries focus on developing.

At this air show, a number of new domestically-made laser weapons made their debut. Compared with the previous air show, there were more models, some of which were more powerful, and the focus was on demonstrating their anti-UAV capabilities.

In the Air Force Equipment Theater, vehicle-mounted tactical laser weapons attracted many visitors and discussions. According to the exhibition board, vehicle-mounted tactical laser weapons are a new type of directed energy combat force used to intercept small drone “low, slow and small” targets. They have the advantages of light-speed combat, good directionality, accurate hits, controllable damage, low cost of use, and strong sustained combat capability. They can be used for single-vehicle independent combat or multi-vehicle networked combat.

From the actual display, we can see that the vehicle-mounted tactical laser weapon is integrated into a military truck, and the laser emitter, optoelectronic search system and radar are installed above the vehicle compartment.

AVIC displayed its latest developed “Light Arrow” and “Sky Shield” series of four terminal defense and low-altitude security equipment. According to reports, the “Light Arrow” and “Sky Shield” series of products are aimed at the low-altitude security field and provide security solutions for threats such as drones and precision-guided weapons. They provide a variety of products with portability, scalability, and multi-layer defense for important targets such as energy, people’s livelihood, and technical facilities.

The “Guangjian-11E” multi-mode composite terminal jammer system is a terminal defense equipment that integrates multi-band optoelectronic active countermeasures. It uses laser interference, damage or decoy to make precision-guided weapons and drones and other targets lose their sight and guidance capabilities. It is suitable for terminal defense of fixed locations and moving targets.

The “Guangjian-21A/B” vehicle-mounted laser anti-unmanned system is a laser security equipment that uses high-energy lasers to control drone targets. It can quickly detect, lock, and deal with targets, and use high-energy lasers to destroy drone targets within seconds, effectively preventing drones from invading important areas. It can realize single-vehicle autonomous combat or networked formation combat, and can realize combat at all times of the day and night and while moving.

The “Guangjian-24” unmanned intelligent laser guard system can realize unmanned intelligent patrols of important points in complex environments such as cities, detect and intercept low-altitude targets, accurately avoid obstacles, and identify and deal with targets including drones, explosives, floating objects, etc. The system has independent and autonomous combat capabilities, can be flexibly mounted on various platforms and realize formation networking and coordinated combat.

The “Sky Shield-A” portable modular “low, slow and small” defense system is a UAV defense system that integrates radio jamming and laser damage functions. It is divided into multiple individual portable modules, which are convenient and quick to deploy. It can customize the combination of various functional modules according to user needs, forming a multi-means and multi-level early warning, detection, intervention and disposal capability for UAV targets.

China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation displayed two laser weapon systems, LW-30 and LW-60. According to reports, the two weapon systems are mainly used for key points, military camps and marching air defense, and can inflict hard damage on drones, as well as interfere with or blind optoelectronic equipment. They have the advantages of high strike accuracy, fast response speed, unlimited ammunition, and flexible soft and hard killing. They also emphasize the excellent actual combat performance and automated operation of the weapon.

China North Industries Group Corporation displayed the OW5-A50A vehicle-mounted laser weapon system at this air show. The OW5-A50A system is designed to deal with “low, slow and small” air threats. The system is integrated on a military truck, has the ability to move and launch on roads and in the field, and has a high degree of autonomy.

The latest news is that France has launched an unmanned vehicle-mounted laser weapon.

A French defense company exhibited an unmanned vehicle-mounted laser weapon at the recent Infantry Open Day (pictured above). The system chassis is a 4×4 light all-terrain vehicle with an open cab. The vehicle is equipped with a laser turret that can burn through drones within a range of 1 km or blind them within a range of 3 km. It is reported that this laser turret is equipped with complex optical sensors and a 2-kilowatt laser emitter, which can effectively deal with small and medium-sized drones in the air. The turret can be remotely controlled by an operator to control the laser weapon for aiming and attacking.
